Sea Conditions

Torrey Pines State Beach (TPSB)

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve includes several distinct administrative units: the Reserve itself including the natural habitat of the Torrey pine tree; an additional Torrey pine habitat called the Extension--located north of Los Peñasquitos Marsh; Los Peñasquitos Marsh Preserve; and the State Beach.

Torrey Pines State Beach (TPSB)

Because of it's proximity to the Scripp's Institution of Oceanography TPSB has been under study for several years with the objective of better understanding how the beach responds to such phenomena as wind, waves, currents, surf, runoff from the Marsh, and runoff and collapse of the cliffs. Ocean winds wave directional spectra and water temperature are observed at an instrumented buoy obshore in deep water. Tide is measured at Scripps pier several miles south of TPSB. This page is a collection of links to the data and analyses from these instruments.
