Weather at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Weather Station at the Visitors Center

Cumulus TP Extension

An automatic recording and reporting weather station has been operated in the Reserve by the Torrey Pines Docent Society since August 2009.

Torrey Pines Reserve (TRR)

Our observations are reported every 10 minutes directly to the National Weather Services San Diego Forecasters' Mesonet. On February 2, 2011 our station joined about 100 other non-NOAA-operated stations selected throughout the forecast area to improve local forecasts by providing high-quality, timely data.

Torrey Pines Reserve (DW3101)

Air temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, and precipitation are observed every 10 minutes. Other standard weather parameters are computed (dew point, wind chill, temperature-humidity index, etc.), archived locally, and reported on NOAA's CWOP/APRSWXNET for use, analysis, and dissemination by NOAA and others. The station name is Torrey Pines Reserve, CA US and its call sign is DW3101.

Torrey Pines Reserve (KCASANDI116)

We also share.our data with wunderground.com, a commercial weather site. They have assigned us KCASANDI116 .

Purpose of this Site

The purpose of this site is to provide direct, easy access to these observations and to other weather and sea condition information of interest to visitors, staff, and others concerned with the physical environment at TPSNR. This includes research into the relationship of weather to the impact of pine bark beetles on the Torrey pines, and the study of the climate in which the Torrey pines are preserved.

Data other than observed by our station is provided by many external links to government and private web sites in these pages. We have no control over the availability, accuracy, presentation, or any other aspect of any information presented through these links.
