NOAA Forecast vs. TPSNR Observations
Our weather station is the only source of direct observations in the TPSNR forecast area. In the region, the weather station at Lindbergh Field is the primary source. The regional weather radar is located near Poway. Satellites look down on us from the sky, and there are many public and private stations scattered around. All this is digested for the forecasts.
A comparison of our observed values and analyzed values can be found here. We don't know who provides this analysis. A quality rating is also shown, provided by MADIS.
Other Forecasts
Weather is characterized by natural variability in time and space. San Diego County--one of the largest counties in the country--has a wide range of variability in space. From sea level at the coast, to Mt. Laguna at 6,000ft, to Anza Borrego Desert State Park, there is usually a wide range of temperature, humidity, and wind speed. In any semi-desert or desert environment there is usually a big difference between day and night temperature and humidity. However in the absence of any other information, in any San Diego locale one is safe in guessing that tomorrow's weather will be just about the same as today's.
NOAA forecasts for several sites around the County and nearby TPSNR are linked to on the left. Weather Underground's forecast for TPSNR is also linked in.
